Strong execution is offset by working-capital, cost-recovery, capacity, and segment-quality risks.

Hold: Q2 revenue rose 17.5% year over year to INR 2,681 crores, EBITDA reached INR 513 crores at a 19.1% margin, and PAT was INR 337 crores.

Market-share gains and 24% export growth are encouraging, but only 5% Bearings and Industrial growth, capacity constraints, unrecovered input costs, higher working capital, and Koovers breakeven deferred to 2029 make this a solid quarter rather than a clean buy.

Near term

Management expects some traction on FX and steel-price corrections in the second half, but LPG, propane, wage, freight, and air-freight costs are not fully recoverable from customers.

Exports grew 24% in Q2 and 28% in the first half, helped by intercompany allocations, available Savli capacity, demand across regions, and favorable FX; management wants to maintain roughly 15%-20% growth but warned about geopolitical disruption.

Working capital reached INR 2,029 crores after planned inventory build-up, while free cash flow weakened; the second half must show inventory normalization and cash conversion.

Automotive Technologies grew 33.3% year over year and 3.6% sequentially despite an 8% sequential passenger-vehicle production decline, implying market-share gains rather than broad volume strength.

Longer term

Capacity expansion and localization remain central to growth, with management expecting to consume the remaining portion of the INR 500 crore 2026 capex plan.

Vehicle Lifetime Solutions has a structural opportunity from broader INA aftermarket coverage, but local supplier development and plant capacity must catch up with OEM demand.

Industrial growth depends on recovery in distribution, wind energy, railways, and automation; management aspires to double-digit growth, but current Bearings and Industrial growth is only about 5% year over year.

Koovers is still scaling with negative EBITDA and is not expected to break even on EBITDA and cash flow until 2029.

Red flags

The company has not quantified the value or timing of customer compensation for LPG, propane, wage, freight, and other input-cost inflation; management acknowledged that reimbursement is unlikely for several cost items.

Hosur capacity constraints are forcing air freight and prioritization of OEMs over Vehicle Lifetime Solutions, while local suppliers remain under development.

Intercompany export transfer prices are trued up only at year-end, creating potential interim margin and cash-flow volatility.

The export surge is partly allocation-driven and FX-assisted, so its sustainability is less proven than organic domestic demand.

Koovers required a INR 5.6 crore revenue cut-off adjustment and about INR 3 crore founders' bonus provision in Q2, with profitability still several years away.
