Strong balance sheet and operating improvement are offset by near-term cost, grade and capital uncertainty.
Latest call · Q2 2026Hold: Q2 delivered C$267 million of revenue, C$94 million of net income and C$42 million of free cash flow, with C$391 million of cash and no debt.
The longer eight-year reserve plans, stronger Kiena execution and Eagle River throughput recovery are constructive, but Eagle River's roughly US$2,000/oz Q2 AISC, reduced 2026 grade guidance to 11.5-12.5 g/t from 13-14 g/t and potentially 10% higher consolidated capital leave too much execution risk for a clean buy.

Near term
Eagle River must convert nearly 800 tonnes per day of Q2 throughput and the targeted further 10% second-half increase into lower unit costs and stronger ounces.
Kiena's Presqu'ile ramp is expected to reach 300-400 tonnes per day in Q4, while Kiena Deep contributes 600-700 tonnes per day; delays would pressure the back-end-loaded plan.
Second-half cash flow is expected to improve, but the company flagged potentially higher growth capital from Presqu'ile development and equipment timing.
Q3 and Q4 assays from the 270,000-metre 2026 exploration program, especially follow-up drilling at Norbenite Footwall, are important catalysts but are not yet reserves.
Longer term
Both mines now have approximately eight-year reserve-based plans, creating a more credible platform for mine-life extension and infrastructure leverage.
Eagle River's fill-the-mill strategy targets 2027 and could improve fixed-cost absorption if throughput gains persist; Mishi-Magnacon and regional targets add optionality but remain conceptual.
Kiena's additional mining horizons, doubled ventilation capacity and improved equipment availability could support scalable growth, but the operating model is still being embedded.
Capital returns are becoming a meaningful part of the thesis: more than C$80 million of Q2 buybacks and a new dividend of approximately C$0.12 annualized, subject to continued free-cash-flow generation.
Red flags
Eagle River Q2 AISC was just over US$2,000 per ounce sold after a 17% decline in ounces sold, and management's explanation relies on second-half grade, throughput and one-time-cost normalization.
The reduction in Eagle River grade guidance is framed as value-based sequencing, but lower grades increase the importance of delivering the promised tonnage and productivity improvements.
Consolidated full-year capital could be up to 10% above the initial C$205 million guidance, while Kiena's growth program remains contractor- and development-intensive.
Management cites several million dollars of supply-chain savings identified, but has not quantified the full run-rate or demonstrated the savings in reported costs.
