OpenFilings ("we", "us", "our") provides access to public company financial filings from global registries (SEC, ESMA, EDINET, and others).

2. Data we collect
When you create an account or connect OpenFilings to a third-party tool (e.g. Claude), we collect:
- Account data: email address, name (optional), authentication provider (Google or email/password)
- Usage data: API calls made, tools invoked, timestamps, quota consumption
- Technical data: IP address (via Cloudflare), browser/client user agent, access tokens
We do not collect payment information directly — billing is handled by third-party processors if applicable.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Authenticate you and manage your account
- Enforce usage quotas and plan limits
- Monitor service health and debug issues
- Send transactional emails (account creation, quota alerts) — no marketing without consent
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not serve advertisements.
4. Data storage and retention
- Account and usage data is stored in PostgreSQL hosted on our infrastructure in Switzerland
- Authentication is managed via Keycloak, an open-source identity provider
- Data is retained as long as your account is active
- Upon account deletion, your personal data is deleted within 30 days
- Aggregated, anonymized usage statistics may be retained indefinitely

6. Cookies and sessions
We use HTTP-only session cookies for authenticated sessions in the web dashboard. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to processing in certain circumstances

8. Security
All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Access to production infrastructure is restricted to authorized personnel. We apply security best practices including rate limiting, authentication, and audit logging.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via a notice on openfilings.org. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
