Strong backlog and low standalone leverage are offset by margin compression, working-capital intensity, and execution delays.

Latest call · 2026-08-07

Hold: FY26 standalone revenue grew 17% to INR7,620 crore and the order book is INR26,470 crore, but standalone EBITDA margin fell to about 11% from 13.88% and consolidated PAT declined to INR210 crore in Q4. The balance sheet is strong at 0.03x standalone debt/equity, yet execution is constrained by land availability, FY27 growth depends on appointed dates, and management says execution rates should not improve.

Near term

Watch appointed dates after the monsoon for Agra-Gwalior and two HAM projects; delays would defer the expected growth ramp.

FY27 revenue growth is targeted at 15% to 20%, but Q4 execution missed the INR3,000 crore expectation and oil-and-gas execution was about INR400 crore to INR450 crore versus the expected INR600 crore.

Fuel and bitumen represent roughly 30% to 40% of road-sector cost, while abnormal price increases are not fully covered by escalation clauses.

Longer term

The INR26,470 crore order book and planned FY27 order intake of INR20,000 crore to INR22,000 crore support growth, but diversification into transmission, tunnels, oil and gas, and logistics adds execution and capital-allocation risk.

Promoter contribution still required for operational HAM and BOT projects is INR3,486 crore, with about INR1,000 crore expected in FY27; logistics also requires planned equity investment over the next three years.

Competition is pushing bids 30% to 40% below NHAI estimates, structurally pressuring construction economics rather than creating an easy cost-saving opportunity.

Red flags

Working-capital days increased to 128 from 117, with INR2,372 crore of standalone receivables including INR1,667 crore of HAM debtors and INR808 crore of unbilled revenue.

Management explicitly said the execution rate should remain at the current level, citing piecemeal land handover and delayed appointed dates.

The INR253 crore exceptional gain from monetizing four HAM assets, including about INR60 crore of deferred consideration already recognized as profit but not yet received in cash, makes reported standalone PAT less representative.

Oil-and-gas margins remain unproven: management targets 8% to 10% but said it needs one or two operating cycles before giving reliable guidance.
