Latest call · Q2 2026

Hold/avoid chasing the stock after this call.

Q2 revenue was $137.6 million, roughly flat year over year, while systems revenue fell 13.7% to $26.4 million and non-GAAP operating income declined to $0.1 million. Record consumables of $66.3 million and 17% A&D growth support the production-transition thesis, but the company withdrew its expectation for positive full-year operating cash flow after using $18.7 million in Q2, leaving the recovery dependent on an unquantified second-half systems rebound and successful MarkForged integration.

Near term

Management reaffirmed sequential revenue growth in each quarter of 2026 and said systems revenue should show a “notable uptick” in the second half, but provided no quantified outlook; this is the key near-term test after systems declined both year over year and sequentially.

Operating cash flow is expected to be positive in the second half, but first-half cash usage and $10.5 million of incremental litigation expense make cash conversion a near-term stock catalyst and risk.

The pending MarkForged acquisition is expected to close later in 2026 for $42.5 million in cash; closing timing, funding impact and early order traction will matter more than management’s broad synergy claims.

Longer term

The strongest evidence for the manufacturing thesis is recurring materials utilization: consumables reached a quarterly record, Stratasys Direct grew 12.1%, and A&D revenue grew 17%, including production and sustainment work for drones, munitions and the U.S. Air Force.

Customer qualification and repeat deployments could create switching costs in regulated aerospace and defense applications, but the thesis still needs to translate into sustained system growth and better operating leverage rather than only consumables and services growth.

MarkForged could broaden Stratasys into continuous-carbon-fiber applications and metal replacement, while adding software and reseller reach. The strategic fit is plausible, but the combined company’s competitive differentiation versus metal additive vendors and other composite platforms remains unproven.

Red flags

The analyst explicitly challenged weak systems performance, noting that Q2 systems revenue was below the prior year, two years earlier and Q1. Management attributed this to large-deal timing and extended sales cycles, but offered no order value, conversion timing or quantified second-half target.

Management’s production-transition narrative is not yet visible in consolidated growth: revenue was roughly flat year over year, non-GAAP operating income fell from $1.1 million to $0.1 million, and adjusted EBITDA declined from $6.1 million to $5.3 million.

The company no longer expects positive full-year operating cash flow. Management characterized Q2 cash usage as non-routine and expects a positive second half, but did not quantify legal costs still ahead, the full-year cash burn or post-acquisition liquidity.

MarkForged generated approximately $70 million of revenue in 2025, but management did not provide current profitability, growth, retention or integration metrics. The promised positive EBITDA contribution within the first year is therefore difficult to underwrite.

Management cited a robust pipeline, four large-corporate requests for continuous carbon fiber and a dental opportunity, but supplied no bookings, backlog conversion, revenue contribution or timing. These remain narrative upside rather than evidence of near-term earnings inflection.
