From watchlist to portfolio: position tracking

A watchlist tells you what to read. A portfolio tells you what it costs you.

Portfolios are live in beta on OpenFilings.

Watchlist tickers become weighted portfolio positions

Weights change the question

Twenty companies on a watchlist are equal. Attach weights and three questions open:

  • Where is exposure concentrated? Market, sector, currency — by money, not by name count.
  • What did today cost? A filing from a 12% position and a name you follow out of curiosity are different events.
  • How does this compare? Absolute return without a benchmark flatters in a rising market.

Start in one click

Model baskets — ready-made weighted portfolios with a benchmark attached. One click, then edit.

Your watchlist — if you already follow twelve companies, that is most of the input. Build the portfolio and adjust weights.

Every holding is a company whose filings, press, insider activity, and earnings dates you already have. Position and research stay on the same object.

Free accounts get one portfolio; paid plans get more.

Benchmark and nightly valuation

Every portfolio carries a benchmark — suggested from the markets your holdings sit in, and changeable.

Valuation runs every night across time zones and currencies. Positions value in their own market's currency and roll up, so a book spanning US, Japan, and Europe is one number in the morning.

This is research and monitoring — no brokerage link, no execution, no allocation advice. You enter what you want to track.

Alerts on the position

Existing alerts are event-driven: a filing, a wire, an insider trade. Portfolio alerts run off the nightly valuation and fire on the book itself — drawdown past a threshold, or weights that drifted far from the allocation you decided on.

Drift is the quiet one. A winner grows to a quarter of the book over two good quarters; you notice when trimming becomes emotional. An alert when the weight crosses your line turns that back into a rule.

Same channels as everything else: bell, push, and daily email.
