Latest call · Q2 2026

Hold rather than chase the quarter:

revenue rose 23% to $26.8 million and net income reached $10.9 million, but the result was heavily supported by a 104% increase in realized silver prices to $68.90/oz. The growth thesis remains La Preciosa, where development production rose 59% sequentially, but execution is not yet proven: silver production fell 6% year over year, copper fell 50%, AISC jumped to $38.75/oz, and management could not provide a timeline for commercial production or the 500-tpd target.

Near term

La Preciosa development mining is approaching the 500-tpd target, but management said additional technical and trade-off studies are needed before providing a production timeline or updated operating plan.

Production may improve as the mine sequence returns to higher-grade ET material after processing lower-grade, oxidized near-surface material; however, management did not quantify the expected rebound.

The $5 million provisional pricing adjustment remains a source of quarterly earnings volatility. Management acknowledged it knows the impact relatively early but is not currently planning to hedge metals.

Exploration results from four active drills and the remaining 2026 drilling program could provide catalysts, although management is withholding results until they can be incorporated into a future resource or reserve update.

Longer term

The inaugural 127 million silver-equivalent-ounce proven and probable reserve base across three assets materially improves the credibility of the multi-asset strategy, but reserves are not yet equivalent to production growth.

La Preciosa is the principal value driver. Management is evaluating hauling against a potential stand-alone processing facility, creating meaningful upside but also capital-allocation and execution uncertainty.

The existing four independent mill circuits, water, power, and tailings infrastructure provide operating flexibility and could lower expansion friction if La Preciosa reaches sustained production mining.

The resource base is substantially larger than reserves, with 301 million silver-equivalent ounces of measured and indicated resources and 87.6 million inferred ounces, but conversion and economic viability remain unproven.

Competitive displacement was not a major topic in the Q&A; the more immediate moat question is whether Avino can convert La Preciosa's development ore into higher-grade, repeatable production at acceptable costs.

Red flags

AISC rose to $38.75 per silver-equivalent payable ounce from $20.93 year over year, while cash cost per ton increased to $74.72; management attributed this to development material, mine sequencing, metal-price conversion effects, and the stronger Mexican peso, but normalized costs remain unverified.

The CFO explicitly declined to provide a timeline for reaching full production or a detailed quarterly ramp because the company is reconsidering the original La Preciosa plan in light of higher metal prices.

The $5 million provisional pricing adjustment reduced revenue and gross margin, and management does not intend to hedge currently, leaving earnings exposed to settlement-price volatility.

The Q&A confirmed that the lower-grade oxidized material produced fewer ounces because it recovered poorly. This strategic choice preserved margin but contributed to lower silver-equivalent production and a 50% decline in copper output.

Management's claim that La Preciosa development costs are not indicative of long-term costs is reasonable in principle, but no production-mining data or firm cost guidance was provided to validate the claim.
